Monday 3/23 - Community

We’re going to begin with community! In VISION, community is developed through our student teams and cooperative work at the sites. Our teams create group agreements, reflect together, and grow as a community through shared work and stories. Building connections through work, play and learning experiences is the core of how we get to know one another

At a time of deep uncertainty and social distancing, we all continue to need intentional community. A community that supports, respects, enjoys, and enriches one another in their common life experiencesPractice expressing gratitude, and continue to make anyone you encounter feel welcomed and accepted.

For all of us who would’ve been on Spring Break programs this week, we would have been making an effort to get to know one another personally in simple, fun ways such as mixing up who we sit with, work with, walk with, and do dishes with. We would have gotten to know and care for people who we would not have otherwise sought out. This community building can still happen!! You have the power to dive further into your existing relationships, and to reach out to those who you may want to get to know better.

Choose a challenge from below--or create your own!
Challenges for the day:
1) Give a smile – whether it is someone you pass by, or a loved one coming home
2) Send/share a note of gratitude for someone who is a part of your community
3) Connect with those whom you are currently staying with. Be vulnerable, ask questions, share your passions
4) Pick up the phone and give a call to family members or friends. They would love to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Emma, Alaina, Mackenna, Joey, Andrew M., Julia, Aria, Katie, Andrew S., Maddie, Thuy-Vy, and Noah
